Associazione Nazionale degli Insegnanti di Scienze Naturali - short overview

ANISN is a non profit Association of Science teachers with 28 local sections distributed in all Italian regions. It was founded 30 years ago and aims to create didactic resources and to organize working groups, national and local training courses, seminars and meetings to improve the PD of science teachers. It is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as one of the few Italian organizations authorized to set up institutional training courses and to set up competitions and activities for talented students in science.

The know-how transfer is implemented also by an updating national web site ( www.anisn.it ), local web sites, newsletters and different kind of publications.

Activities with the Fibonacci project

ANISN is involved in a national project : Plan ISS (Teaching Experimental Sciences) www.anisn.it/piano_iss.php based on the IBSE approach. Plan ISS involves many teachers and schools from primary to high schools. The plan started as a pilot project in Nov. 2005, under the guide of the Italian Ministry of Education. The model of Professional Development of the ISS Plan and the general architecture contains many elements, similarities and strategies useful for the setting up and the development of Fibonacci project in Italy.

There are many and dedicated working groups on different topics or activities ( such us Natural Science Olympiad for secondary school , International Biology Olympiad, Earth Science Olympiad, )The working groups may be local, regional, national or international depending from the activities. ANISN is also involved in collaborative projects with universities, research centres, science centres and science museums

Different kind of didactic materials are available and free of charge via specific publication, in presence training courses or meeting or via web site.
