The Department of Teacher Education is the most versatile unit providing teacher education in Finland. The department educates teachers and other experts in the fields of education and teaching, primarily for the needs of the Finnish society. Moreover, the department houses the Department of Home Economics and Craft Science. The task of research and development activities performed at the Department of Teacher Education is to promote innovation in the field of education – both nationally and internationally.
The Department of Teacher Education is a multidisciplinary institution of education and intellectual regeneration, and a builder and forerunner of the future. Growing up to shoulder responsibility on the global scale provides the wider framework for the Department’s activities.
